Profile:
The mission of the University of Puerto Rico's School of Dentistry is to achieve excellence in three fundamental academic activities: education, research and service. Upon graduation, students are expected to competently practice general dentistry and have acquired critical thinking abilities and a bioethical sensibility to be responsive to the needs of his/her patients.

The UPR School of Dentistry offers advanced dental education programs in: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and General Practice Residency.

The school and all its programs have been fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association (ADA) until the year 2007.

Admissions Requirements:
Applicants must have completed a minimum of 90 semester hours (or 135 quarter hours) at an accredited college or university.

Prospective dental students are required to complete the following:

  Spanish - 12 Semester Units
  Inorganic Chemistry Biology w/lab - 8 Semester Units
  Organic Chemistry Biology w/lab - 4 Semester Units
  Mathematics - 4 Semester Units
  Physics -4 Semester Units
  English - 12 Semester Units

Instruction may be in English or Spanish, therefore, all students should have competency in speaking, reading and writing both languages.
