Profile:
The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry is one of the younger dental schools in the country. The first dental class graduated in 1976. The primary mission of the College is the education of highly competent dental professionals. From the very beginning, the faculty, programs, and facilities emphasized clinical dentistry. While research and scholarly activity have grown over the years, clinical dentistry remains the strength in both the educational and patient care arenas. Graduate or residency programs are offered in the disciplines of Orthodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, and General Dentistry. All the programs except dental hygiene are unique to the state. Patient care is an extremely important part of the educational mission of the College. Over 60,000 patient visits occur annually.
