Profile:
The University of Nebraska College of Dentistry
combines the personal attention of a small
professional school with the academic resources and
recreational activities of a massive state university
system.
The philosophy behind Nebraska's dental curriculum
is based on 5 core concentrations: scientific
development, diagnostic skills and treatment
planning, clinical treatment, practice
administration, and personal and professional
responsibility. The program emphasizes clinical
experiences early on. In fact, students are
introduced to clinical observations in the first
year. The first year curriculum primarily focuses on
building science skills in the basic, pre-clinical
sciences. In the sophomore year, students are
assigned patients and the course work is focused on
comprehensive clinical experiences and patient care.
The school is also noted for its emphasis on
community and professional responsibility.
Nebraska offers clinical experiences through a
myriad hospital affiliations as well as a highly
regarded rural rotation program. The school also
offers postgraduate degrees in endodontics, pediatric
dentistry, peridontics, orthodontics, as well as a
general practice residency program
