Creighton University School of Dentistry

Profile:
Founded in 1878, Creighton University is a private university affiliated with the Catholic Church. The School of Dentistry's D.D.S. program is well regarded for its focus on clinical education and the practical applicability of dental education in the real world. Creighton's small size doesn't reflect on the resources it brings to bear in the delivery of its dental programs. The school features advanced teaching and research facilities, state-of-the-art clinical treatment facilities, as well as a teaching hospital.

The first two years of Creighton's curriculum focuses on the core basic sciences combined with an introduction to clinical procedures and practices. Over the course of the next two years, students gradually begin to focus more on clinical applications of dentistry, including practice management and comprehensive patient care.

Creighton's location in Omaha provides students an interesting mixture of large city amenities with small town values. Omaha consistently ranks as one of the most livable cities in the U.S. In addition, it's one of the most affordable - providing students with plenty of off-campus housing options.

Admissions Requirements:
Most applicants to Creighton have completed at least four years of undergraduate work and have received an undergraduate degree. Specific academic requirements include:

  Biology - 6 Semester Units
General Chemistry - 8 Semester Units
Organic Chemistry - 6 Semester Units
  Physics w/lab - 6 Semester Units
  English - 6 Semester Units

It is also recommended that applicants complete undergraduate course work in psychology, comparative anatomy, history, economics, among others.

In addition, every applicant is required to submit a DAT score, the usual college academic transcripts, as well as three letters of recommendation. Prospective students can start applying June 1 and submit applications until March 1 of the year in which they plan on attending.
