Profile:

UMC's School of Dentistry was established in 1973. As one of the smaller dental schools in the United States, the excellence of its academic, research and service programs is recognized. Its graduates now comprise 40 percent of the active practicing dentists in the state. This correlates well with the fact that more than 70 percent of its graduates practice in Mississippi. As the only dental school in Mississippi, the outstanding faculty and staff are committed to serving the state and the dental profession.

Admissions Requirements:

To be considered for admission, applicants must have completed a minimum of 90 acceptable semester hours in an approved college or university. However, a baccalaureate degree is strongly recommended. Completed courses must include the following:

Inorganic Chemistry w/labs - 8 Semester Units

Organic Chemistry w/labs- 8 Semester Units

Biology w/labs - 4 Semester Units

Physics w/labs- 8 Semester Units

Mathematics w/labs - 8 Semester Units

Behavioral Science - 8 Semester Units

English - 16 Semester Units

In addition to required courses, it is highly recommended that courses in the humanities and social sciences be completed. Strong preference is given to legal residents of Mississippi.
