Profile:
The University of Manitoba offers a program that leads to a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Located in downtown Winnipeg, the school offers a variety of clinical and professional experiences - most notably a consortium of 4 hospitals with dental clinical rotations.

The first year curriculum concentrates on pre-clinical and clinical sciences. Over the course of the second and third years, comprehensive clinical experiences are gradually introduced. In the final year of the program, students gain practical patient care experience in a variety of settings. Manitoba dental students are required to spend a minimum 4 weeks in a teaching hospital and a minimum 4 weeks in a clinic in the rural areas of the province.

Admissions Requirements:
Applicants to the Faculty of Dentistry must have completed 60 semester hours of college-level education. Most LSU applicants have completed a bachelor's degree program prior to entry into the dental school. Specific college academic requirements include:

  Biology with lab - 1 academic year
  General Chemistry with lab - 1 academic year
  Organic Chemistry with lab - 1 academic year
  Mathematics - 1 academic year
  Biochemistry - 1 academic year
  Social Science - 1 academic year
  Physics with lab - 1 academic year
  English - 1 academic year

Students can apply through the Canadian Dental Association. Applicants must submit academic transcripts and a score on the Canadian DAT. For more information contact the Canadian Dental Association or the school directly. Manitoba residents are given priority in the admissions process. Remaining spaces are extremely competitive. Applicants from the USA are treated as international students and must meet all deadlines and requirements for international applications.
