Profile:
According to its mission statement, "the School
of Dentistry is committed to achieving academic
excellence, providing optimal oral health care and
actively engaging in research, scholarship and
creative endeavors to meet the needs of the
widely-dispersed and highly-diverse population of
Georgia, the region and the nation." Seven advanced
education programs are offered including a residency
in general practice and specialty programs in
endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery,
orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and
prosthodontics. Two special degree programs are also
available to accepted dental students: M.S./D.M.D.
and Ph.D./D.M.D.

Admissions Requirements:
Students preparing for the predoctoral program
are required to complete 90 semester hours (135
quarter hours) at an accredited American college or
university. Preference is given to applicants who
have earned a baccalaureate degree. Required courses
include:
Biology - One academic
year
General Chemistry - One
academic year
Inorganic Chemistry - One
academic year
English - One academic
year
Organic Chemistry w/lab - One
academic year
Additional biology courses, including anatomy,
biochemistry or physiology are strongly
recommended.
